DECRIMINALIZE HOUSELESSNESS

Voting: Yes

Reason: People seeking shelter from the elements or resting outside when no other option is available should never be a reason people are charged with a criminal offense. Survival is not a crime!

FOR A FAIR POLICE CONTRACT THAT SERVES THE PUBLIC

Voting: Yes

Reason: I support accountability, independent review of excessive force cases, and a disciplinary protocol that does not grant special protections to anyone. I believe drug testing and other psychological evaluations are very reasonable responses to cases involving the use of force and I understand the need to protect whistleblowers from retaliation. I have concerns with with the legal viability of a civilian agency having explicit jurisdiction however, but I fully support having an independent review body that oversees the review process and ensures citizens rights are honored at all times.

OREGON DISTRICT ATTORNEY FOR THE PEOPLE

Voting: Yes

Reason: I'm brown, I've been targeted. My family is brown, they have been targeted too; some of them incarcerated too. Mental health, survival, sex work, and drug use are all cases where incarceration and criminalization make the person's problems worse. Until we fix our correctional system to make it a real rehabilitation experience, we cannot rely on the justice system to be the tool we use to address mental health, drug addiction, and survival.

TENANT PROTECTION ORDINANCE

Voting: Yes

Reason: Tenants and Landlords need a mechanism to address concerns related to harassment, wrongful eviction, displacement prevention, and housing stability assistance or the government is not fulfilling its obligation to the public.

UP NOW! UNIVERSAL PRESCHOOL IN MULTNOMAH COUNTY

Voting: Yes

Reason: Childcare costs are a major burden to young families and, combined with student debt, become the largest reason young families cannot buy a home and are forced to rent exposing them to greater housing instability than homeowners. Universal Childcare will be a major boon to upward mobility for disaffected households and will improve the experience for children and teachers in public school classrooms.

CAMPAIGN FINANCE REFORM

Voting: Yes

Reason: I support a level playing field and getting big money out of politics. A legally defensible, universally applicable requirement for all candidate races would be the best way to ensure the role of money in politics is changed forever. By adding legal requirements for coverage and access to public media outlets as part of their operating license, we will also make a monumental step towards eliminating the need for money in politics.

MUNICIPAL BANK

Voting: Yes

Reason: This is a much more agile and effective mechanism for building community wealth and investing in community resilience than any bond or tax measure under the sun. By combining this with a digital currency platform, Portland will be able to help homeless people create and retain wealth without the risk of theft or diversion.

MUNICIPAL BROADBAND

Voting: Yes

Reason: This has already shown to be a viable and economically advantageous way to provide superior service and access to the internet in cities. With Data and information management becoming such a universally utilized resource, putting the city in charge of information infrastructure makes sense. This is will also help the City become more resilient and much more prepared to respond effectively to emergencies.

COMMUNITY BENEFITS AGREEMENT (CBA) FOR THE SUPERFUND CLEAN-UP OF THE WILLAMETTE RIVER

Voting: Yes

Reason: I think CBAs are an essential part of a successful public project in today's market. When it comes to public dollars especially, what we are building when we spend money on infrastructure is not bridges, roads, and waterways--we are building vibrant communities for people to thrive in. CBAs ensure this is top of mind from the outset.
